Bull catching

Bull catching take place throughout the Northeastern backlands: bulls are released into the Caatinga forest and the cowboys, wearing leather, run to capture them. The clothing is made of goat leather, the only type of leather that is resistant to the Caatinga thorny vegetation. Originating on the farms of the region, bull catching is now a festival that brings together hundreds of cowboys every weekend in the cities of the Northeast. Whoever catches the bull wins a cash prize. Photos taken in Arcoverde, Pernambuco. Click on the photo to enlarge.
