Xavier Bartaburu is a journalist, writer, photographer and musician. Has worked for 20 years documenting the convergence between nature and culture in words, photos and music, with an emphasis on Brazilian socio-environmental diversity. Has a degree in Journalism from the University of São Paulo, a master's degree in Journalism from New York University and a degree in piano and conducting from the Municipal School of Music of São Paulo. Was a reporter and editor for Terra magazine, one of the pioneers in Brazil in covering environmental issues, and is currently the editor of the environmental news website Mongabay. He is also a pianist, composer and musical director for the group Nhambuzim. Has published more than 20 books as an author.​
